I started the year asking the risk management community to join me down the Road to Resilience. That journey required us to come together and support one-another to advance our profession. It also empowered us to take the lead to help our organizations and communities be more resilient. I was overwhelmed to see such a positive response.
There were so many opportunities throughout the year for us to come together and grow as a RIMS Community; a highly productive Leadership Forum way back in January, the extraordinary connections made at RISKWORLD 2023 in Atlanta, an impactful Legislative Summit, a thought-provoking ERM Conference, more than 150 chapter events including RIMS regional conferences, workshops and webinars, more and more RIMS-CRMP certification holders, RIMScast episodes, and Risk Management Magazine articles. The list goes on and on.
As we travelled down this road together, serving as RIMS President has given me a whole new perspective about this amazing community and I am honored to be a part of it.
First, leading us down the road are exceptional risk professionals who volunteer and dedicate their careers to not only advancing risk management but also creating opportunities for others to succeed. RIMS powerful network of 80 chapters are able to deliver because of the passionate volunteers behind the scenes. The same holds true for RIMS’ committee and council leaders who guide many of the Society’s initiatives. And, of course, my colleagues serving on RIMS global Board of Directors who will stop at nothing to ensure RIMS remains resilient and delivers thought-leading and relevant resources to continue to be the most powerful risk management association in the world.
I am in awe of the open, self-less way in which our RIMS Community shares its experiences, resources and guidance with one another. Risk professionals’ ability to navigate uncertainty, strengthen resilience, and inform strategic decision-making is driven and supported by this open exchange of knowledge. All the while, advancing our profession and future-proofing our careers.
I would be remiss if I didn’t acknowledge the dynamic partners that continue to support RIMS and its members around every turn. Our industry partners in risk, insurance, brokerage and more; these forward-looking businesses have made the RIMS Community their priority, sharing innovative products and services that empower us all. Without question, their support has allowed so many risk professionals to stand out and build stronger, more resilient organizations.
Resiliency is a journey and every journey begins with one step. I hope all of you have taken a big step forward this year to strengthen your network, your knowledge base and your career, taking advantage of all that RIMS has to offer. It’s been my great pleasure to serve as RIMS President this year.
Through RIMS, let’s continue to connect, share, and learn. We are far more powerful together.
Sincerely and with Gratitude,
Jennifer Santiago, RIMS-CRMP, MBA, ARM
RIMS 2023 President
