RIMS Agreements with AFERM and DRI International Expand Pathways to Risk Management and Business Continuity Certifications

AFERM Partnership Avails RIMS-CRMP-FED Certification Opportunities to Federal Workers // DRI International and RIMS Launch Business Continuity Certification and RIMS-CRMP Collaborative

April 24, 2025

(NEW YORK) April 24, 2025RIMS, the risk management society®, has entered into two separate agreements to deliver risk management certification opportunities for Federal risk management leaders and professionals with business continuity responsibilities.  The education initiatives are with the Association for Federal Enterprise Risk Management (AFERM) and The Disaster Recovery Institute International (DRI International).

“Central to RIMS mission is its commitment to providing risk professionals with career-advancing opportunities that allow them to showcase their expertise and the value they add to their organizations,” said RIMS CEO Gary A. LaBranche, FASAE, CAE. “AFERM and DRI International, while different in scope, share that common goal and we look forward to working with both groups to advance risk management and keep businesses resilient to make the world a more sustainable and safer place.”

AFERM AGREEMENT DETAILS
RIMS partnership with AFERM aims to elevate risk management in the Federal, State, and Local governments by providing risk professionals and those responsible for performance outcomes with the resources to strengthen their skills and programs.

The initiative provides AFERM members and their stakeholder community with prep courses and resources to earn the RIMS-CRMP and RIMS-CRMP-FED certifications. The RIMS-CRMP is the only accredited risk management certification in the world. The RIMS-CRMP-FED micro-credential was subsequently introduced in 2018 with the support of AFERM. Earned in addition to the RIMS-CRMP, the RIMS-CRMP-FED denotes the holder’s expertise and experience implementing sophisticated risk management strategies within complex Federal agencies. All prep workshops will be presented remotely with live RIMS instructors.

“This is an opportunity to invest in the future, including the practices of Enterprise Risk Management and the people who drive success at all levels of government. Risk management skills are in demand. AFERM is uniquely positioned to help them reach their full potential with skills to help organizations succeed.”—Dr. Karen Hardy, President of AFERM.

DRI INTERNATIONAL AGREEMENT DETAILS

RIMS and DRI International have forged a partnership to accelerate resilience professionals’ ability to drive business continuity, strengthen risk programs, and advance professionally.

The collaboration provides professionals with the opportunity to earn both the RIMS-CRMP and the DRI’s Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP) certifications via the Exam Prep Bootcamp, which will be taught live, online by expert instructors. The four-day bootcamp is a joint initiative offering professionals the resources to prepare for both examinations – the RIMS-CRMP Prep Workshop and the DRI Qualifying Examination – the path toward obtaining the sought-after RIMS-CRMP and CBCP certifications.  This opportunity also includes exam fees for both certifications. To start this two-certification journey, professionals can visit this site.

“I am thrilled about DRI International and RIMS partnership, combining best-in-class business continuity from DRI International and unsurpassed risk management from RIMS.  With one bootcamp, risk and business continuity professionals gain expertise from each other, expanding the scope of their knowledge. Best of all is the opportunity to obtain dual certifications from the top organizations in their respective disciplines,” said DRI President and CEO Michelle Cross.
