RIMS Announces Retirement of CFO Kathy Gledhill and Promotion of Controller Bereket Haile
NEW YORK (December 10, 2024) - RIMS, the risk management society®, announces the retirement of Chief Financial Officer Kathy Gledhill, effective December 31, 2024. Kathy has chosen to retire voluntarily after more than five years of dedicated service to the organization to pursue professional and personal endeavors. Kathy will be replaced by Bereket Haile, RIMS’ current controller, who will be promoted to the CFO position.
“Kathy has been an extraordinary leader and a trusted advisor to our executive team, Board of Directors, and staff,” said RIMS CEO Gary LaBranche, FASAE, CAE. “Her financial acumen, strategic insights, and collaborative spirit have left an indelible mark on our organization. While we will miss her immensely, we are excited to see her thrive in the next chapter of her journey.”
Since joining RIMS in 2019, Kathy has spearheaded numerous initiatives that have strengthened the organization’s financial health and operational efficiency. Kathy was integral in steering the organization’s strategy and finances through the global pandemic that included the cancellation of RISKWORLD 2020, navigating a faltering global economy, critical reserve management, and the development of comprehensive financial projections for a range of risk scenarios. Most recently, she has brought enhanced operational efficiencies through the implementation of a new Enterprise Resource Planning system, guided the firm through the selection of new audit and financial advisory services, selected and onboarded a top-level CFO replacement in Bereket Haile and ensured that strategic financial objectives have been achieved. She will continue to work on for-profit and non-profit boards, coaching, consulting, as an interim CFO and advising early-stage companies.
“Kathy has been an integral part of RIMS’ success and a true champion of its mission,” shared RIMS President David Arick. “Her contributions will continue to have a meaningful impact on our future, and I sincerely thank her for her leadership and wish her all the best.”
Bereket Haile joined RIMS in 2023 as the Society’s Controller. Prior to that, Bereket was the Controller for the Financial Planning Association (FPA) from 2021 to 2023, Accounting Manager for Association of Per-Operative Nurses (AORN) from 2018-2021, and a financial analyst at E*TRADE from 2016-2018. He holds an MBA from University of California-Irvine and completed NextGen CFO Program from CFO University. Bereket brings a strong skill set in accounting, strategic finance, and analytics. He will report to RIMS CEO Gary LaBranche.
