Community Service: Helping the Homeless Colorado, sponsored by ESIS

MONDAY, MAY 4 – WEDNESDAY, MAY 6

Visit Helping the Homeless Colorado in Lobby A of the Colorado Convention Center to pack school supplies for the city's homeless youth.

Helping the Homeless Colorado, a 501(c) 3 non-profit, was founded in 2016 in Denver, Colorado by students Alyssa Gorkin & Matine Khalighi. Helping the Homeless Colorado works with individuals who are experiencing homelessness to improve their quality of life. In addition, they are dedicated to advocating for the homeless on a political level. Here at Helping the Homeless Colorado, we believe in taking this one step further and educating and empowering our youth to make positive contributions to homeless communities.

Helping the Homeless Colorado has a three-structure approach—Advocate, Educate, and Alleviate—to effectively address the needs of Colorado's homeless population. To help alleviate suffering and need our nonprofit has distributed over 50,000 basic necessities to those in need and awarded over $15,000 a year in scholarships for homeless students to earn associate's degrees. They consistently advocate for legislative action at the Colorado State Capitol, and we have presented at hundreds of educational seminars in Colorado schools and community groups. We even launched a state-wide #SpreadTheLove social awareness campaign on live television.
