When informed that I was going to be RIMS 2025 President - I thought long about what it takes to be a great leader. While many leaders possess a wealth of experience, I quickly realized that the great ones are always eager to share those experiences and pave ways for others to succeed.
Last month, I was surrounded by amazing leaders who exemplified those qualities. At the RIMS Leadership Forum in Orlando, a dedicated group of RIMS Chapter Leaders from around the world met to share ideas, best practices, and work together to develop resources and opportunities for all risk professionals. I want to thank the incredibly passionate RIMS volunteers who take time out their busy days to lead RIMS 80 chapters and advance the RIMS mission. We’re incredibly lucky to have you on our team!
Great leaders are also always hunting for insight, exploring the latest trends, and uncovering cutting-edge resources. Whether you are already in that leadership position or you aspire to be there one day, there is nowhere better to gain that game-changing insight than RISKWORLD.
In just over 70 days, the global risk management community will descend on the City of Chicago for the largest gathering of risk management professionals and industry leading companies in the world. The RISKWORLD Marketplace is already at 90% capacity – way ahead of previous year’s numbers! The education program is near complete and will feature more than 115 sessions, including a new education track focused on Alternative Risk Transfer strategies. There is an undeniable buzz about this year’s RISKWORLD and I can’t wait to celebrate RIMS 75th Anniversary with you there. There is still time to exhibit and to register to attend…but, as they say, time is of the essence!
Another place to grab some thought-leading insight will be at Lloyd’s Academy for RIMS scheduled for June 10-12. This RIMS member-only event gives attendees access to the storied Lloyd’s Marketplace in London and provides a series of powerful sessions centered on the future of the insurance market. When I attended in 2019 – it was an amazing experience. It gave me a deeper understanding and appreciation for the Lloyd’s Marketplace and its longstanding relationship with risk managers. Critical to great leadership is advocating for others. Throughout its 75-year history, RIMS has made it a priority to advocate for regulatory action that supports the risk management profession. The dynamic leaders on RIMS Public Policy Committee will ensure RIMS carries on that tradition at RIMS Legislative Summit 2025 (and all RIMS members are invited to join them!). Scheduled for March 19-20 in Washington, DC, the two-day event provides attendees with the opportunity to meet with their legislative leaders and offices to discuss RIMS legislative priorities and its implications on business. Join me on the Hill and don’t miss this opportunity to help RIMS impact the future of the profession.
Leadership is a privilege. I am beyond grateful to serve as president, to have this awesome opportunity to give back to the RIMS community, and help others reach their professional goals. Thank you to all the volunteer leaders who do so much to keep RIMS vibrant and to all of the future risk leaders who have chosen to join us on this amazing journey.
