In Memoriam: Chuck Magazine

February 20, 2013

RIMS mourns the sudden loss of member, Charles “Chuck” Magazine. In his honor, we recognize his achievements and the impact he had on the risk community.

Chuck had over thirty years experience in the fields of risk management and insurance claims. He has worked for a major insurance company, a state health agency, private healthcare systems, a nationwide restaurant franchise operation, and most recently, the City of Boynton Beach, Florida. He has developed and implemented claims programs in the areas of workers’ compensation, property, and casualty insurance. He has published articles and spoken on various risk management topics. He served as President of the Palm Beach County Chapter of the Risk and Insurance Management Society, and served as Chairperson of the Annual Florida Chapters RIMS Conference.

Chuck was a member of the Risk Advisory Board of the Preferred Governmental Insurance Trust, and previously served on the Editorial Advisory Boards of the Emergency Care Research Institute (ECRI) and Jane's Workplace Security Handbook.

He received the Richard W. Bland Memorial Award for Legislative & Regulatory Affairs at the Annual Society Conference in 2008. He also served on the Board of Directors of the Safety Council of Palm Beach County, FL; and, was appointed to and served as a Caucus Member of the Florida Chamber Foundation.

Chuck served on the Member and Chapter Services Committee for the RIMS Society; and, as a Risk Manager in Residence for the Spencer Foundation at Middle Tennessee State University, Murfreesboro, TN.

We treasure his memory and our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with his family during this time.
