RIMS 2018 AWARDS & HONORS

​NEW YORK (April 16, 2018) — RIMS, the risk management society™, today announced the winners of its series of industry awards presented during RIMS 2018 Annual Conference & Exhibition Awards Luncheon in San Antonio.

RIMS’ most prestigious honor, the Harry and Dorothy Goodell Award, was presented to Ward Ching, Managing Director, Western Region at Aon Global Risk Consulting. Named in honor of RIMS’ first president, the award pays tribute to an individual who has furthered the goals of the Society and the risk management discipline through outstanding service and achievement.

RIMS Risk Manager of the Year and Risk Management Honor Roll aim to raise the profile of the risk management profession and the outstanding programs practitioners have implemented within their organizations. This year’s winner was Rebecca F. Cady, Vice President and Chief Risk Officer at the Children’s National Medical Center. Inductees to the RIMS Risk Management Honor Roll were Sandy Aspinall, Jr., Vice President of Global Risk Management for Comcast Corporation; Jennifer Hills, Director of the Office of Risk Management Services for King County (Washington); and Joseph Meaney, Jr., Vice President of Global Insurance and Risk Engineering for The AES Corporation.

The Ron Judd “Heart of RIMS” Award pays tribute to the legacy of Ron Judd, who served as the RIMS Executive Director for 22 years. Individuals are nominated by chapters for outstanding performance in furthering risk management at the chapter level. This year’s Heart of RIMS recipient is Randy Jouben, Risk Manager at Fairfax County Government and active member of RIMS Potomac Chapter.

The RIMS Rising Star Award honors up-and-coming risk management professionals under the age of 35 or who have seven or less years of professional experience in the industry.  This year, Lindsey Harris, Risk Manager at Dollar Tree Stores, Inc. and Jaci Mennenga, Manager, Corporate Risk Management at COUNTRY Financial were honored for demonstrating exceptional initiative, volunteerism, professional development, achievement and leadership potential.

The RIMS Ambassadors Group award recognizes individuals for their continued service with RIMS, going above and beyond to help strengthen and support the Society’s strategic initiatives. This year, the Society welcomed Andrew Bent, Risk Manager at The Sage Group PLC and Lori Seidenberg, Head of Global Real Assets Insurance at BlackRock, Inc. to the group.

The Risk Management Hall of Fame is a joint venture of RIMS and AIG, and was created to preserve the history and tradition of the profession. This year’s inductee into the Hall of Fame is former RIMS President Berry Griffin

The Richard W. Bland Memorial Award was presented to Terry Fleming. The award was created by RIMS Kansas City Chapter in 1974 to recognize a member’s dedicated commitment in the area of legislation or regulation.

The Cristy Award was presented to Peter Galvin, Risk Manager at Uline. This award acknowledges the individual who earned the highest marks on the three exams required to earn the Associate of Risk Management designation.

The J.D. Power 2017 Large Commercial Insurance Study,SM conducted in association with RIMS the risk management society,™ has named Lockton as the top-performing broker for 2017 and XL Catlin as the top-performing insurer for 2017.
