RIMS 2025 Board Slate Ready for Vote

Employment Change Prompts RIMS to Revise Current Board of Directors

NEW YORK (October 2, 2024) — RIMS Nominating and Governance Committee has announced the Society’s 2025 Global Board of Directors slate. Beginning on October 7, 2024, RIMS members will have the opportunity to vote to select the proposed 2025 RIMS Board of Directors. The voting window will remain open until November 15, 2024.

“RIMS Nominating and Governance Committee is tremendously proud to assemble a dynamic team of risk leaders for 2025 and is beyond confident that the group will continue to empower the world’s risk community as RIMS ambassadors,” said Committee Chair and RIMS 2019 President Gloria Brosius, RIMS-CRMP. “RIMS and the Committee continue to be impressed by the exceptional candidates who interview for the opportunity to join RIMS Board. We sincerely thank them for their undeniable commitment to RIMS and the profession.”

RIMS Executive Committee Leaders Up for Election:

President: Kristen Peed, RIMS-CRMP, ACI, AIC, ARM-E, CPCU, CRM, RPLU; Head of Corporate Risk, Sequoia.
Vice President: Manuel Padilla, RIMS-CRMP, ARM, AIC, SPPA, CIPRIA, ERIS, MLIS; Vice President, Risk Management & Insurance, MacAndrews & Forbes Incorporated.
Treasurer: Christy Kaufman; Vice President, P&C Risk and Compliance, USAA;
Secretary: Penni Chambers; Vice President, Risk Management, Hillwood a Perot Company.

The following directors will continue to serve their three-year term as indicated:

Immediate Past President David Arick, ARM, Managing Director, Global Risk Management for Sedgwick, will continue his board service in the role of Ex-Officio. RIMS Chief Executive Officer Gary A. LaBranche, FASAE, CAE will serve as a non-voting member of RIMS Board of Directors.

2024 BOARD CHANGE
Kevin Bates, who served on RIMS Board of Directors as Treasurer, has accepted a new professional role as Chief Executive Officer for Swiss Re Corporate Solutions Australia and New Zealand. Kevin will have a myriad of responsibilities in his new role, but corporate risk management will not be one of them. Without such responsibilities, Kevin becomes ineligible to serve on the RIMS Board.

As of October 1, 2024, RIMS Board Director Manny Padilla, Vice President, Risk Management & Insurance at MacAndrews & Forbes Incorporated, has been appointed to serve out the remainder of Kevin’s term as Treasurer. Christy Kaufman, Vice President, P&C Risk and Compliance at USAA, who served on RIMS Board in 2023, will return to serve the remainder of Manny’s term as Board Secretary.

About Kevin Bates: Among many RIMS achievements, Kevin played an integral role in the formation of both RIMS Australasia Chapter and RIMS New Zealand and Pacific Islands Chapter. He held the position of president for RIMS Australasia Chapter and continues to advise its Board. He joined RIMS Global Board of Directors in 2021 and held the position of Board Secretary and Board Treasurer on its Executive Committee. Professionally, Kevin joined Lend Lease in 2004 and was appointed to Group Head of Risk and Insurance in 2014. Prior to Lend Lease, Kevin was a corporate finance lawyer with a top-tier international law firm in London. He holds a Bachelor of Laws (Honours), a Diploma of Legal Practice and a Masters in Law and Arbitration.
