RIMS ANNOUNCES KEYNOTE SPEAKERS FOR ITS 2012 ANNUAL CONFERENCE & EXHIBITION

RIMS 50th Annual Conference to Feature Remarks by MLB® Icon Billy Beane & World-Renowned Author Walter Isaacson

NEW YORK (January 18, 2012) – RIMS (the Risk and Insurance Management Society, Inc.) is proud to announce that famed Major League Baseball General Manager Billy Beane and New York Times best-selling author Walter Isaacson will keynote the 2012 RIMS Annual Conference & Exhibition scheduled for April 15 – 18 in Philadelphia.

Mr. Beane will speak at the conference’s General Session on Monday, April 16th.  Mr. Isaacson will present his keynote address at the conference’s Leadership Luncheon on Wednesday, April 18th at noon.

Billy Beane is the Oakland A’s General Manager and the subject of the bestselling book, Moneyball: The Art of Winning an Unfair Game - currently a major motion picture.

Considered one of the most progressive and talented baseball executives in the game today, Billy Beane has molded the Oakland Athletics into a perennial postseason contender since assuming the general manager’s duties shortly following the 1997 season. He shattered antiquated MLB beliefs that big payrolls equated wins by implementing unorthodox (by MLB standards) strategic methodology that inevitably led one of the worst teams in the AL with one of the lowest payrolls, to three American League West Division titles. Beane’s strategy has since opened the eyes of many top sports executives and CEOs around the country who now utilize the “Moneyball” methodology.

Walter Isaacson is the President and CEO of the Aspen Institute and, most recently, published the highly anticipated and only authorized biography, Steve Jobs, a riveting story of the roller-coaster life and intense personality of the creative entrepreneur.

Isaacson has been the Chairman and CEO of CNN and the editor of TIME magazine. He is the author of Einstein: His Life and Universe, Benjamin Franklin: An American Life and Kissinger: A Biography. He coauthored The Wise Men: Six Friends and the World They Made.  Isaacson brings a combination of wit, history, drama and humanity to the stories of Jobs, Einstein and Franklin, and their contributions to the world.

Arrangements for the appearance of Billy Beane made through Greater Talent Network, Inc., New York, NY.
