Financial Support Reaffirms RIMS Commitment to the Next Generation of Risk Professionals
NEW YORK (January 31, 2013) – RIMS, the Risk Management Society™, presented a check for $30,000 (USD) to The William H. McGannon Foundation, a charitable nonprofit organization that provides funding and resources to support the advancement of the risk management and insurance professions in Canada. The donation was presented at the McGannon Foundation’s 10th Anniversary Luncheon in Toronto by RIMS Executive Director Mary Roth.
The McGannon Foundation was established following the release of a study by the RIMS Canada Council in 1999 that evaluated the need for a Canadian organization to support the future of risk management in Canada. It was established to provide resources in the form of grants to advance risk management by way of education, research, mentorship programs and work experience programs.
RIMS President John Phelps said, “With a large number of risk practitioners entering the twilight of their careers, fostering educational programming, scholarships and other resources that benefit the next generation of this profession is a RIMS priority. We are proud to be able to lend our support to help further the McGannon Foundation’s exceptional work and commitment to the future of the profession.”
