March 27, 2014

NEW YORK (March 27, 2014) - RIMS, the risk management society™, has announced that Amber Levy will join the Society as its new director of membership and constituent programs.  The announcement was made today by RIMS Executive Director Mary Roth and is effective immediately.

“The strength of this Society relies upon our vast network of risk professionals whose varying experiences contribute to the overall value of RIMS’ membership,” said Mary Roth.  “Amber has a profound understanding of the member association dynamic, and has had tremendous success identifying new opportunities to engage, grow and retain members.  We look forward to tapping into Amber’s expertise to enhance the member experience.”

Amber brings an extensive sales and membership relations background.  Throughout her 15 year career, she has been directly responsible for developing innovative member-focused initiatives, building business opportunities in new or saturated markets, and managing sales teams that routinely exceeded expectations.

At RIMS, Amber is responsible for the expansion of RIMS membership programs including the development of membership value initiatives, educational programming and products and identifying trends, gaps and opportunities to benefit the Society’s membership of more than 11,000 risk management professionals.

“Key to delivering value to any association is understanding who the members are, what their needs might be and anticipating how those needs might evolve,” said Amber.  “I am extremely excited to share my experiences but, more so, learn from RIMS’ already outstanding membership and professional development teams.”

Prior to joining RIMS, Amber was the National Director, Hotel Sales Northeast Region for the Los Angeles Tourism & Convention Board.  There, she spearheaded business development and strategic account management activities cultivating the relationships critical to achieving member revenue goals.

Amber is an active member of the Professional Convention Management Association (PCMA) where she is currently the President of New York Area Chapter of PCMA.  From 2010 to 2012, she served as the Chapter’s Director of Membership and successfully increased retention by 20 percent through the development of programs focused on training, high-level strategic meeting management and contract negotiations.
