Shifting Focus

Risk professionals have a lot to think about. We are constantly assessing our organizations’ strategies, assets, and exposures while working to stay ahead of trends and emerging risks. It’s a lot. But with one month left in 2025, I encourage you to take a moment to focus on you.

It was inspiring to spend time with more than 500 ERM practitioners from around the world at the RIMS ERM Conference in Seattle. Our keynote speaker, Dan Chuparkoff, set the tone with practical strategies for safely integrating AI into our work. Our session speakers were exceptional and were a big part of the conference’s success. I extend my sincere thanks to the RIMS Strategic and Enterprise Risk Management Council (SERMC) for all their work and congratulate the 2025 RIMS ERM Global Award of Distinction winners: the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and SOCAR Türkiye.

As we head into the final weeks of the year, RIMS is elevating its professional development game to give you a competitive edge. This begins with the RIMS-CRO Certificate Program in Advanced Enterprise Risk Management. The first two sessions sold out instantly, and registration for the January session is now open. This is an amazing opportunity to take your career to that next level.

Continue that focus on your professional journey at RISKWORLD. Beginning the first week of December, you can start planning your trip to Philadelphia, May 3–6, for THE risk management event of the year. Registration for all attendees opens on December 3.

You won’t be the first to register, though. RIMS members already took advantage of their early-access window this summer. We are also setting new records with an unprecedented number of exhibitors booked before the new year.

RISKWORLD will welcome one of the world’s leading management thinkers, Adam Grant, as our opening keynote speaker. And, with seven education tracks and an outstanding lineup of sessions, the program will once again make RISKWORLD a can’t miss experience.

Now, I ask you to shift your focus toward others. At RISKWORLD, we will honor remarkable risk leaders and visionaries who have elevated our profession and given so much back to this community. Think about the mentors, colleagues, and champions who have helped shape your career – and let’s celebrate them together in Philadelphia. Nominations for RIMS Awards are due Friday, January 16.
