RIMS and PARIMA Alliance Leverages the RIMS-CRMP Certification to Establish a Global Risk Management Standard
(NEW YORK) May 1, 2023 – RIMS, the risk management society®, and PARIMA, the Pan-Asia Risk & Insurance Management Association, have announced a collaboration to elevate the practice of risk management in the Pan-Asia region through the proliferation of the RIMS-CRMP® certification. The Memorandum of Understanding was officially signed at RISKWORLD® by RIMS 2023 Board President Jennifer Santiago, RIMS-CRMP Commission Chair Ward Ching, RIMS CEO Gary A. LaBranche, FASAE, CAE and PARIMA Co-founder and Chairman Franck Baron.
The goal of the collaboration is to establish a standard of knowledge and professionalism for risk professionals that is recognized and accepted around the world. Central to this endeavor, PARIMA will market, promote and deliver the RIMS-CRMP Exam Prep Workshop™ to Pan-Asia’s risk community while RIMS will deliver course materials, case studies, instructors, and manage administrative and certification duties.
The RIMS-Certified Risk Management Professional certification (RIMS-CRMP) is the only accredited risk management certification in the world. The certification is accredited by ANSI under ISO/IEC 17024:2012.
“Setting a global baseline for risk management skills and knowledge is a critical first step to advancing the profession,” said Gary LaBranche. “As a unified force, RIMS and PARIMA are ready to deliver greater opportunities for risk professionals in the Pan-Asia region to earn the RIMS-CRMP, strengthen risk programs, drive organizational resiliency and advance professionally.”
Franck Baron said, “PARIMA is committed to raising the profile and expertise of risk professionals across Asia Pacific, through fostering greater engagement with sister associations like RIMS. The collaboration will enable the RIMS-CRMP certification to be more relevant to the region, and better position risk professionals to drive the key themes of resilience and sustainability for organizations across the region.”
Unlike insurance focused professional credentials, the RIMS-CRMP tests qualifying risk professionals on the following five domains:
1. Analyzing the Organizational Model
2. Designing Organizational Risk Strategies
3. Implementing the Risk Process
4. Developing Organizational Risk Competency
5. Supporting Decision Making
Risk professionals interested in earning their RIMS-CRMP certification must meet the eligibility requirements; apply online; schedule their exam at a testing center or remotely at www.PearsonVUE.com/RIMS; and receive a passing mark. RIMS offers optional preparatory workshops for the RIMS-CRMP exam. A list of those workshops is available here.
