RIMS has successfully met all ANSI requirements to uphold the RIMS-CRMP certification's accreditation -- reaffirming its position as the only accredited risk management credential in the world.

NEW YORK (December 12, 2022) RIMS, the risk management society®, has successfully met all ANSI (American National Standards Institute) requirements to uphold the RIMS Certified Risk Management Professional certification’s (RIMS-CRMP) accreditation. Reaccredited for a five-year term expiring in 2027, the ANSI validation reaffirms the RIMS-CRMP as the only accredited risk management credential in the world.

Developed by risk professionals, for risk professionals, the RIMS-CRMP certification’s accreditation by ANSI under ISO/IEC 17024:2012 signifies that the Institute recognizes the competence of RIMS to carry out certification activities in accordance with requirements defined in the International Standard.

“The RIMS-CRMP certification empowers risk professionals around the world to further demonstrate their command of dynamic risk management strategies that strengthen resiliency, support innovation and improve business decision-making.” said RIMS CEO Gary A. LaBranche, FASAE, CAE. “Creating professional development opportunities is central to RIMS mission and the RIMS-CRMP certification is one of the many valuable advantages the Society offers to help the global risk community elevate their skills and careers.”

Unlike insurance focused professional credentials, the RIMS-CRMP tests qualifying risk professionals on the following five domains:

1. Analyzing the Organizational Model

2. Designing Organizational Risk Strategies

3. Implementing the Risk Process

4. Developing Organizational Risk Competency

5. Supporting Decision Making

Risk professionals interested in earning their RIMS-CRMP certification must meet the eligibility requirements; apply online; schedule their exam at a testing center or online at; and receive a passing mark. RIMS offers optional preparatory workshops for the RIMS-CRMP exam. A list of those workshops is available here.
